Why we need this project โ the reality of Msanga Village
Economic Reality
Over 90% of households practice subsistence farming with very low surplus. Incomes are irregular and poverty rates surpass 60% in Kisarawe District.
Climate Vulnerability
Rain-fed agriculture leads to frequent crop failures. No irrigation systems โ the community lacks resources to adapt.
Social Barriers
Women & youth have limited access to resources, training and markets. Malnutrition affects children due to lack of vegetables in the diet.

Turning subsistence farming into a sustainable agribusiness
Productivity & Income
Establish a 5-acre irrigated farm using modern techniques, increasing group members' income by 40-60%.
Year-round production
Reliable water supply (solar/diesel pump + drip irrigation) to grow tomatoes, onions, amaranth, spinach, okra, cabbage continuously.
Capacity building
Training in sustainable agronomy, post-harvest handling, group marketing, and financial literacy for long-term independence.
Nutrition security
Direct access to fresh vegetables for 200+ people, reducing malnutrition and improving health.

Within 12-18 months, Tushikamane will own equipment and run a revolving fund to maintain the farm without external donations.
